SC Transportation Partnering Conference
(Formerly the SCDOT Bike and Pedestrian and SC Partnering Conferences)
December 2-5, Spartanburg, SC

For the first time, Spartanburg Area Transportation Study
(SPATS) will host the South Carolina Transportation Partnering Conference at the Marriott Spartanburg Conference Hotel, Sunday, December 2 through Wednesday, December 5, 2007. This conference, hosted by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and the SC Division Office of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) as the SCDOT Winter Conference in 2005, is a part of the State's continuous efforts to provide a safe and efficient transportation system for all modes of transportation. SPATS will be partnering with SCDOT and FHWA to provide attendees with the latest information on methods to improve accommodations for bicycles and pedestrians as well as, opportunities for shared information and coordination of activities between state and federal resource agencies and local planning organizations.

Expected Conference Participants

Participants at the conference are expected to include bicycle and pedestrian advocates and clubs; neighborhood groups; municipal, county, regional, state, federal government, elected officials, administrators and planners; transportation planners and engineers; school, public health and safety officials; chambers of commerce; environmental and community improvement groups; parks and recreation directors; utility, insurance and railroad companies; as well as developers and Home Builders Association representatives.

Conference History

In 2005, the annual Bicycle and Pedestrian Conference and the SC Partnering Conference were held simultaneously at The Westin Resort in Hilton Head, South Carolina. One registration fee provided attendees the opportunity to choose sessions on bicycle/pedestrian accommodations and partnering in order to gain knowledge in both areas of interest.
This joint conference was such a success that SPATS is moving forward with this same concept for 2007. The two areas of interest have been combined into one conference, now known as the South Carolina Transportation Partnering Conference.

We hope you will join SPATS and our partners in downtown Spartanburg December 2 - 5, 2007.  Please continue to check this website for event updates.
